Now and Tomorrow II
Artwork by students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade
June 11 - July 3, 2005
"Greater Tomorrow Youth Art Program," in collaboration with selected Austin area public school art teachers, presents
Now and Tomorrow II, an exhibition of artwork by pre-kindergarten to twelfth-grade students in Austin area schools.
Now and Tomorrow II celebrates the visual and material culture of Austin area youth, featuring drawings, paintings
and ceramic work. The exhibition will take place June 11 through July 3 at Creative Research Laboratory.
Now and Tomorrow II is produced by "Greater Tomorrow Youth Art Program," an outreach program in the
Visual Art Studies Division of the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin.
"Greater Tomorrow Youth Art Program" provides supplementary art experiences for K-12 students in the public schools
and within community settings. These activities provide youth participants with non-linear creative exercises
that relate to everyday life experiences. "Greater Tomorrow Youth Art Program" uses art education as a means of fostering
analytic thinking processes that are necessary for balanced intellectual development. The program also provides in-service
and in-training to art teachers.
"Greater Tomorrow Youth Art Program," formerly ArtTouch, was established in 2002 by the Visual Art Studies Division of
the Department of Art and Art History and the College of Fine Arts (COFA) at the University of Texas at Austin in
collaboration with school art teachers, students, school administrators, community-based organizations, philanthropic
organizations, professional artists, private citizens, and community leaders in Austin. For more information about "GreaterTomorrow Youth Art Program" or Now and Tomorrow II, please contact Dr. Christopher Adejumo at (512)471-5672 (office) or by email:email@example.com.
