At both the Graduate and Undergraduate levels, the Design Division of UT ’s Department of Art and Art History is an important national alternative to traditional design education. The program fosters a multi-disciplinary environment where students critically investigate the social, political, and economic contexts in which design is created and used. Building on their individual bases of knowledge, talent, and perspective, students make artifacts that are informed by critical thinking, writing, and discussion.
