Opening Friday, April 12, Creative Research Laboratory presents “Count,” the 2002 M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition, introducing work by the ten artists and designers finishing their Master of Fine Arts degrees in 2002 from the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin. The opening reception will take place 6 to 8 pm at Creative Research Laboratory, located at 2832 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Austin.

The artists and designers featured in “Count” are Ming-Tang Huang, Lidia Marte, Ajay Nityananda, Ian Pedigo, Angela Rodgers, Jennifer Small, Shane Sullivan, Adam Thomas, Marguerite White, and Corinne Ulmann.

The graduate studio art program at the University of Texas at Austin is ranked among the top ten in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. The Department of Art and Art History is one of the largest and most diverse art departments in the country; it currently boasts 71 faculty members, 743 undergraduates and 147 graduate students.

The 2002 M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition is the first of its kind to take place at Creative Research Laboratory, a new exhibition space for the Department of Art and Art History. Creative Research Laboratory presents a year-round schedule of exhibitions of work by students and faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, and also facilitates workshops, performances, demonstrations, seminars and collaborations.

Creative Research Laboratory is located at 2832 East Martin Luther King Boulevard , located in East Austin at 2832 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, inside Flatbed World Headquarters. There is ample free parking and bus service available on Capitol Metro's route 18. The activities of the Department of Art and Art History and the Creative Research Laboratory are free and open to the public.
